    Canon TX :: Domestic Details

    These are some “finish the roll” photos… various pictures of details around the house and a hotel room.

    While I love taking pictures of people, sometimes it’s fun to also take pictures of places people should be and inhabit, but minus the people.  The way a person’s home is decorated normally says so much about a person… one day I would love to do an engagement shoot in a couple’s house or apartment, just for that reason.

    Casual Friday :: Blackberries
    August 20th, 2010

    Blackberries

    Blackberries are one of my favorite fruits.

    I lived in Tennessee when I was in high school, and we had a house that sat on 10 acres.  We didn’t do much with those 10 acres (although I always wanted a horse and cow), but we did have wild blackberries growing around the perimeter.  It was my job to occasionally walk around and pick some blackberries.  Of course, between being a teenager and those tiny little thorns that covered the plant, I hated the task at the time… but since then, I’ve always loved fresh blackberries.  However, living in such an urban area, it’s difficult to find random patches of blackberries lying around, and store bought blackberries are not even remotely the same.

    Imagine my happiness when my husband came home from a farmer’s market with real, fresh, delicious blackberries.  They were so juicy and yummy, I had to take a few photos.

    Casual Friday :: Bird
    August 6th, 2010

    Hello

    I was location scouting this week and ran across a bunch of seagulls. In general, they weren’t too scared of me, but still flew away when they realized I didn’t have food. This guy, however, wanted to say hi.

    I named him Bird.

    I’m creative like that.

    Canon 650 :: Wicker Park

    Yeah, I spend a lot of time in Wicker Park (See this post, and this post). What can I say, it has a lot going for it…. Double Door, Subterranean, The Wormhole (an awesome coffeeshop), my friends Carly and Kris, and heck, even the one and only Phil Kosch. Not to mention all the great photo spots. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to shoot film (these were on the Canon EOS 650 with 800ISO Kodak film).

    If I were a few square blocks, I’d want to be Wicker Park. Well, maybe not. But I’d be friends with Wicker Park, for sure.

    Casual Friday :: iPhone 365
    July 23rd, 2010

    I have been holding out on getting an iPhone for years, but finally decided that with the new spiffy camera in the iPhone 4 that I just couldn’t resist anymore. So, I’ve joined the millions of people who are obsessed with their apps… of course, I’m mainly obsessed with photography apps, naturally. Right now my favorite is Hipstamatic, but I really need to get into some of the others.

    In addition to an iPhone, something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time is a 365 (a photo a day, for those not familiar with the concept). Having to upload and blog a photo a day was just too time-consuming for my busy schedule before, but with the iPhone, I can take it and upload it to a Tumblr all in about 2 minutes. Much easier than the traditional method.

    So, long story short, I have started an iPhone 365 on Tumblr. Not always the most artistic photos, but I think it’s fun!  The photo above was the 8th day of the 365, and was taken while wandering around an antique store with a friend (and no, I didn’t buy the camera in the picture, although I did think about it).

    If you have a Tumblr, feel free to follow along with my 365 for the next 358 days!
