    Portraits :: Char

    Okay, okay, last post from this shoot… I promise. I just LOVE all the great shots we got though. If you’re late to the game, don’t forget to check out the film shots from this session.

    By the way, if you want know how much of a trooper Char is, for the shots of her on a window ledge, she climbed up 8 feet to reach it. That was no low ledge, nor were there stairs leading to it. She did it all with a small stepstool and a hop. Anything for the shot, right? Char is truly a girl after my own heart.

    Portraits :: Char (Film)

    Exciting news, all! I got a film scanner, so now I can get much better scans of all my film work. This is the first set of film that I scanned with it, and while it looks great, I noticed after uploading the images that they’re rather large file size-wise (so be patient if it takes a while for stuff to load!).

    Anyway, as I mentioned in the sneak peek, this shoot was fabulous. Char is a friend of mine (and a freelance writer/entrepreneur – need some writing done?), so we had a great time just walking around an industrial area in Chicago stopping when we saw pretty light and fun colors.  I love the golden sun that appeared toward the end of the shoot!

    This set was shot with my Canon TX (35mm) and Yashica-A (Medium Format TLR) – two of my favorite cameras!  Digital shots soon!

    Portraits :: Char

    I can’t believe it took Char and I so long to do a shoot together… but it was magical. I’ve hardly looked through the photos and already I have a lot of favorites.   In fact, the lead image is one of my favorite portraits that I’ve ever taken.  And I owe all the great shots to her, of course.  We were joking that she was modeling “H to T” even when I was taking detail shots, but really, it wasn’t joking… she really WAS modeling H to T the whole time.  Tyra would be proud.

    Much more to come soon.

    Portraits :: Tempestt

    Last week at work, I had to take photos of Tempestt for a publication that we’re doing. I met up with her for just a quick 10 minute shoot, but boy, did she work it in those 10 minutes. I thought the photos turned out so cute and so full of personality, so I asked her if she would mind if I posted a few on my blog to show the world. So, world… meet Tempestt!

    Portraits :: Ruti

    This was quite possibly one of my favorite portrait sessions to date. Ruti found a fantastic little art gallery in the city – the staircase and the detailing that it had was so phenomenal, I wanted to live there! As I mentioned in the sneak peek of these photos, Ruti is a very talented classical pianist, so we got some shots of her playing the piano as well as some portraits. It was also a treat to have a private concert with a classical, professional pianist playing. Have I mentioned that I love my job?

    I gravitated to using window light as my main source of light for the portraits because both the setting and Ruti are very elegant, and I think the soft quality of the window light really exemplified the elegance. Besides, I just really love window light.

    I hope, dear readers, that you enjoy the photos – there are a lot of them. I couldn’t help it.
