Hi, and welcome to my blog. My name is Tasha Schalk, and I am the photographer/owner of Redwall Photo. This blog is where I will post photos from my shoots and daily life, as well as recommendations for vendors and some tips for photographers. Stick around a while and get to know me. I'm fun.

As always, feel free to contact me at tasha@redwallphotography.com or 708.717.2811 if you have any questions, would just like to chat, or would like to book a consult. I'm located in the Chicago area, but do occasionally travel!

    Billy Carlson

One of the things I love most about my job is the people I meet.  I have the most creative and talented clients.  Really.  Sometimes I exaggerate, but not about this.  I am often in awe of what my clients come to me with.

One of these talented clients is Billy Carlson.  A designer in the area, I’ve previously seen Billy’s work on some higher ed publicity materials (since that is my “other job”), and thought he was talented then…. but then he sent me pictures of his wedding invites.  Jaw-dropping.  They’re perfectly elegant without being too frilly or overpowering.  They’re timeless.  And, after talking to Billy and his fiancée Michelle about the details of their wedding (which I’m shooting in February!), it is just perfect for them.

After seeing the invites (and fawning over them for several minutes), I emailed Billy back to see if he would be okay with me referring him to any clients that come my way… or just anyone else that reads my blog… and he said sure! So, brides (or, anyone needing an invite), take notice! Billy’s contact info is info@billycarlson.com, and his website is www.billycarlson.com.

    Discount Cards

I like to share when I find companies or products that I adore. I’m never endorsed or get any kickback from mentioning these companies (unless stated otherwise)… I just know how hard it can be to find reliable vendors. Besides, my mama always told me to share.

M13 is kind of the standard amongst local bands in the area. If you get a glossy flier handed to you after a concert, chances are, that flier came from M13. Since I deal with many local bands, I wasn’t unaware of the benefits of M13, but I never thought to use them for my business work. I wish I thought of it earlier! They offer unbeatable prices and they’re amazingly quick.

    How quick, you ask? (more…)
